What a Young Girl Should Know About Kickboxing?


For many young girls, volunteering to stand in front of another person and allowing her to throw punches and kicks at you might sound completely foreign. Indeed, the thought of someone punching or kicking you might very well send you running for the door in a panic, which might be a signal that you need the challenge that kickboxing provides. The sport of kickboxing can do much more than just get you in good physical shape. It can help you develop the self-confidence and skills necessary to keep your head in the event of an attack, give you a sense of accomplishment and even make you a more relaxed person in your daily life.
Physical Fitness
Many young girls these days get little if any physical exercise due to the sedentary nature of their lives. Putting down the video game controller and joining a kickboxing or martial arts class helps get you off the couch and physically active. Many kickboxing matches feature two to three-minute matches with only a minute's break between. The training necessary to last through a match nearly guarantees that you will have the cardiovascular strength and aerobic capacity of an athlete.
Self-Confidence
The first few kickboxing classes mi ghtbe terrifying to a young girl who has never had to protect herself, which is why the activity is so great for self-confidence and maturity. The act of standing up when someone wants to attack you helps develop confidence in your ability to protect yourself and gives you an insight into your character that is hard to find in other sports.

In addition to getting in better physical shape and developing confidence in your ability to handle yourself, kickboxing is a sport that helps you learn more about yourself. Progressing through the ranks and overcoming obstacles gives young girls a chance to set and reach a goal. This important lesson can carry over into other areas of their lives and might even result in better grades in school and a more outgoing social life.
Helping Others
While many sports focus on your own achievement, a large part of martial arts and kickboxing involves helping others achieve their goals. The act of helping a younger or less experienced student can force a young girl to look closely at herself and her abilities. She might notice that things that used to result in frustration and anger now are greeted with a sense of humor and quiet determination. By helping others, she will develop a more intimate knowledge about herself and her abilities.
