How to Use Egg for Pimple Reduction?

Technically called albumen, egg white is comprised of around 10 percent proteins, vitamins, trace minerals and glucose and nearly 90% water. Meant to protect the yolk, egg white also provides nutrition for the embryo as it develops within the egg. Because of the nutirents in egg whites, minus any fatty substances, the substance may be useful at eliminating pimples. It has a drying effect on the skin, which soaks up excess oil secreted by sebaceous glands and expedites healing of the blemished area.

Lysozyme in Egg Whites

Lysozyme is an enzyme found in egg whites that destroys tough bacterial cell walls and eliminates infections. Bacteria, such as the kind found in skin infections like acne, are safeguarded by tough exteriors comprised of carbohydrate chains supported by strands of peptides. These substances defend the membrane from a bacterial cell's intense, inner osmotic pressure. Lysozyme is strong enough to break the carb chains and eradicate the inner mechanism of the cell. In addition, this enzyme is considered the first useful antibiotic, discovered by Alexander Fleming during the early 20th century, the same individual who discovered penicillin.

Facial Mask Made with Egg White

Facial masks are an effective way to eliminate pimples covering the entire face. Try mixing two egg whites with a teaspoon of lemon juice and applying this to your face. Leave it on for about 30 minutes, then rinse off with warm water. Repeat this procedure each night for a week. Egg whites have a tendency to dry the skin, so if you already suffer from dry skin rubbing a light layer of vitamin E cream onto the skin will prevent overdrying and flaking, especially in problem areas between the eyes and alongside the nose.

Other Egg White Remedies for Pimples

To make a paste that can be dabbed on individual blemishes, mix two egg whites with 1 teaspoon of honey and 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Dab the mixture on pimples before going to bed and wash off in the morning. Repeat until pimples vanish. Another effective paste is made by grinding orange peels and blending them with one or two egg whites. Honey can be added as well to create a thicker mixture. Lime juice and egg whites will also cause blemishes to dry up and vanish quickly. Rubbing garlic cloves over pimples then dabbing them with plain egg white will also get rid of pimples.

Other Tips to Eliminate Pimples

In addition to using egg whites on pimples, other things you might try to clear up oily, pimply skin is eating a healthy diet and drinking plenty of water each day. Avoid fatty, salty foods, and eat more fresh vegetables and fruit for healthy, glowing skin. Moisturize your face with coconut oil after applying egg whites, as coconut prevents bacteria from accumulating in clogged sebaceous glands. Vitamin supplements that may help reduce pimples include C and E as well as biotin, a nutrient fundamental to healthy hair, nail and skin growth.
