How to Oven Cook Asparagus?

Flavorful small asparagus offers a treat for the taste buds. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, these green stalks are equally good for your eyes. Like carrots, asparagus contain vitamin A, which is recommended by the American Academy of Ophthalmology for your vision. This veggie also delivers on fiber and B vitamins, while offering an excellent source of vitamin K, which helps reduce the risk of osteoporosis. Cooking asparagus in the oven brings out its nutty, rich flavor. A splash of balsamic vinegar adds a sweet, tangy element to this dish.

Step 1
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit .
Step 2
Wash the small asparagus under running water. Remove excess moisture from the stalks by blotting them with paper towels.
Step 3
Place the asparagus on the cutting board. Cut away any hard ends on the asparagus with a sharp knife.
Step 4
Line a baking sheet with tin foil.
Step 5
Spread the asparagus evenly on the baking sheet.
Step 6
Drizzle 1 teaspoon of balsamic vinegar and 2 teaspoons of olive oil over the asparagus.
Step 7
Place two cloves of garlic in the garlic press. Hold the press over the asparagus, and crush the garlic over the stalks.
Step 8
Season the asparagus with salt and black pepper to taste.
Step 9
Toss the asparagus with your fingers to evenly distribute the ingredients.
Step 10
Spread the asparagus evenly on the baking sheet, and place it in the oven.
