Foods to Know About Toning Your Butt


The butt can be one of the most difficult areas to tighten, and exercise by itself is typically insufficient to produce results. Women are especially susceptible to excessive fat on and around the butt, but a proper diet can help you slowly shrink and tighten this problem area. Remember that healthy diets produce change over time and not overnight. You should always consult your doctor before radically altering your diet.
Fast Food
Fast food is among the most unhealthy foods you can eat, and it can make toning the butt especially difficult. Fast food is extremely high in fat and calories, and it also contains large quantities of sodium, which can cause you to retain water. Retaining water not only makes you look heavier, but it also makes you feel lethargic, which can interfere with your ability to exercise and tone your butt.
Carbohydrates
Carbohydrates are a source of quick energy during exercise. If, however, the calories from carbohydrates aren't quickly burned off, they are converted by the body into fat stores. Simple carbohydrates such as white bread and refined sugar are the worst culprits because they offer little nutritional value. Unused energy from these foods typically is deposited in the form of fat along the abdomen, butt and hips, according to the book "Weight Loss 101."
Sweetened Drinks
Sweetened drinks such as lattes, sodas, sugary juices and drinks with milk or whipped cream are extremely fattening. These drinks are high in calories but contain little nutritional value. This means that you don't gain a feeling of fullness from drinking them, and they serve as little more than empty calories.
Good Choices
Not all carbohydrates are bad. The carbs in spinach and other leafy greens are high in many nutrients and can help your body regulate its metabolism. Lean meats with the skin removed, whole-grain cereals and fruit are also an important part of healthy weight loss. These foods provide energy, which can make it easier to exercise and tone your butt.
