Fat Burning Features of Kickboxing Workouts

Kickboxing forces you to make fast-paced dynamic movements. The sport gives you an effective total body workout, as both your upper and lower body are used for sparring.
Features
Kickboxing is a form of martial arts that began as a competitive sport during the 1970s. You need to wear protective gear in many forms of kickboxing and learn how to properly execute punches, kicks and blocks to be an effective kickboxer.
The Workout
The larger you are, the more calories you burn kickboxing. A 155-lb. person burns about 700 calories in a one-hour kickboxing workout. A 180-lb. person doing a kickboxing workout for the same amount of time burns 100 more calories than the 155-lb. kickboxer.
Considerations
The TeensHealth portion of the KidsHealth website explains that kickboxing is a rigorous sport that should not be attempted if you lack a solid base of physical fitness.
