Creating and Applying Text Styles in Web Editors

Most web page editors can handle style sheets, although some basic editors cannot.
Netscape Composer doesn't support style sheets.
FrontPage
FrontPage includes predefined style sheets in the Page Templates dialog box, or you can create your own. Editing style sheets is easy: open the style sheet in the FrontPage editor and select the Style button, or use the Format I Style menu. You see the Style dialog box:
You can use CSS styles to format your text, using either inline styles, where the style is applied to individual text, or style sheets, where the style is applied to an entire page or web site. Use the Format I Styles menu to apply styles to selected text. If you're not happy with the look of your web pages, edit the styles in the style sheet, or apply a new style sheet to your site. All the pages on your site use the new or modified style instantly.
Dreamweaver
Choose Window I CSS Styles (or press SHJFr-Fll) to display the CSS Styles window. Click the CSS Styles tab to see the styles that are defined in the current web page, like this:
To attach an external style sheet, right-click in the CSS Styles window and choose Attach Style Sheet from the menu that appears. To assign a style to text in the page, click in the paragraph you want to format and choose the style from the CSS Styles window.
You can edit the styles in the style sheet from within Dreamweaver. Right-click in the CSS Styles window and choose Edit Style Sheet from the menu that appears. When the Edit Style Sheet window appears, click the name of the style sheet and click Edit. You see a dialog box listing the styles defined in the style sheet. Click a style, click Edit, and edit the style's settings in the dialog box that appears.

To create an external style sheet, right-click (CONTROL-click on the Mac) in the Site Window's Files tab, and choose New I Cascading Style Sheet. Alternatively, to create an internal style sheet in a single page, click the Style Sheet button at the top right of the page you're working in. Click the New Element Style, New Class Style, or New ill Style button. Replace the generic name with the tag you want for that style. Then use the Inspector palette (which turns into the CSS Style Inspector palette) to choose your attributes for that style.
There are several ways to link an external style sheet to a page. If the page is open, you can drag the external style sheet file onto the page icon in the page. If your page is closed or you want to link many pages at once, select the pages in the Files tab, open the CSS palette (by choosing Window I CSS), specify the style sheet name in the CSS palette, and click Add.
To edit the style sheet at any time, open the style sheet file and make your changes, which will affect all the web pages linked to the style sheet.
