Android to Train for 5K Run

Android is a type of operating system designed by Google that can be used on a variety of mobile phones and smartphones. The operating system allows you to download applications that can help you perform a variety of tasks and activities. If you are training for a 5K run, the Android has certain applications that can help you improve your speed and endurance.
C25K
C25K, short for Couch to 5K, is a strict training schedule that can help you improve your distance and stamina while running. The Android app is based on a nine-week training regimen, in which you run three times per week. Each week, the amount of distance you run is increased by the application. The application offers you specific instructions on what you need to do to complete your entire workout for the day.
Workouts
On most days, you will start by alternating between jogging and walking for 90 seconds. This interval jogging should be book-ended by five minutes of walking. As the days go by, the application requires you to increase your speed as well as vary your terrain. Depending on the type of location in which you are running, the Android app instructs you on how to best approach the region. With a built-in GPS, the application can tell you your overall velocity as well as help you map out a route in your neighborhood.
CardioTrainer
CardioTrainer is another Android application specifically designed to help you improve your cardiovascular health and endurance levels. With respect to a 5K, this application can help you achieve your desired distance and speed. The CardioTrainer is designed with built-in voice prompts, instructing you verbally when to increase or decrease in speed. Simply insert headphones into your Android phone to hear the instructions while running outside or on a treadmill. The CardioTrainer also monitors your heart rate as you run.
Caution
While training with an Android application can help improve your stamina and speed while running, it is important to check with your doctor to make sure you are healthy enough to engage in long-distance running. Android applications will instruct you to increase your speed and pace while running, but it is important to stay within your own limits and not push yourself too hard. Despite being able to monitor your heart rate and speed, the application cannot tell when you are overly fatigued. As a result, stay hydrated and take breaks throughout your run.
