5 Things to Know About Women Boxing Careers


Female boxing was unheard of in past decades, but by 2000, women's boxing was climbing the ranks steadily catching up with men's boxing. Laila Ali, the daughter of boxing great Muhammad Ali, is one such success story in the world of female boxing. Female boxers used to have a tough road getting trained and recognized in this full-contact sport. Gyms, boxing clubs and private trainers are now recognizing the potential of many of these women and offering services to help them break into the world of boxing.
Step 1
Ask around at different boxing training venues regarding coaching and recommendations. You have the option to hire a private boxing coach, but ensure that the coach you decide on is good. This means the coach produces results through his students and knows how to train both men and women alike.
Step 2
Sign up for boxing lessons with your local gym or boxing/fight club. Concentrate on gyms or clubs that offer amateur training and matches. Most gyms and clubs will provide you with a coach upon paid dues.

Hire a manager to keep track of contracts as your boxing career progresses. Your coach does not count as manager, so you will need to find someone you can trust with your life. A manager also gets your name out into the boxing circuit through advertising.
